The Strategy widget in Thales OSS is a powerful tool for simulating and analyzing complex Options strategies. It enables users to combine multiple positions to form comprehensive trading strategies, offering real-time profit-loss analysis and Greeks calculations. By integrating various inputs and allowing for detailed scenario testing, the Strategy widget enhances strategic planning and risk management for Options traders.
To access the Strategy widget, navigate to the Options section under Operational in the sidebar menu, and then select Strategy from the available options.
The input of the Strategy Widget consists of positions, each defined by a specific Option, including the buy or sell direction, and the position size, indicating the number of contracts involved.
The Strategy Widget calculates two central profit-loss curves, known as the PnL (Profit and Loss) Profile, along with corresponding curves for the Greeks: Delta, Theta, Gamma, Vega, and Rho. These seven curves constitute the outputs of the Strategy Widget, which can be displayed on a Graph by connecting the Strategy Widget to a Graph Widget through their sockets..
It is important to note that these curves represent the overall strategy resulting from the combination of all entry positions.
On the Strategy Widget itself, the seven parameters (PnL, Delta, Theta, Gamma, Vega, and Rho) are only displayed as numerical values. These numbers represent the intersection point of the respective curve with a specific value on the X-axis, i.e., the underlying price. In other words, on the Strategy Widget, the above values are visible for a specific underlying price.
